IOU Program

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Applications for Summer 2019 due February 1, 2019.

What is IOU?

The Integrated Optics for Undergraduates (IOU) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program is designed for students interested in participating in hands-on research opportunities in top laboratories in optics and photonics. Selected students are paired with a research project complementing their interests and goals at one of CIAN’s partner universities.

Students will also participate in professional development and social opportunities.

STIPEND

A stipend of $5,000 is provided. 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

CIAN strongly encourages applications from underrepresented minority groups, women, first-generation college students and students that do not have previous lab research experience. US Citizenship or permanent residency is required. Minimum GPA 3.0 required, on a 4.0 scale.

  • Letter of Recommendation

  • Official Transcript

May be mailed to CIAN in a sealed and signed envelop by the letter writer, or emailed directly by the letter writer. Please mail an official transcript to the CIAN headquarters.
